Opening Night at Lutie’s!

Recently I had the opportunity to enjoy dinner at Lutie’s Garden Patio on their opening night and it was all sorts of fabulous! From the moment we walked in to the very last bite of strawberry sorbet, it was such a special spring evening in Austin amid a gorgeous garden setting.

Lutie’s, the much anticipated culinary vision of world-renowned chefs (and cutie married couple!), Executive Chef Bradley Nicholson and Executive Pastry Chef Susana Querejazu, is now open to the public for dinner service Wednesday through Sunday in the beautiful Commodore Perry Estate in Austin, Texas.

Upon walking in you can’t help but notice the gorgeous greenery hanging from the ceiling and the thoughtful details in every corner. Iconic designer and style maker Ken Fulk created an incredibly whimsical space for guests to dine, dripping in natural light and oozing with charm, you likely won’t ever want to leave. You’ll probably also rethink every decision you’ve ever made as a plant parent. I couldn’t keep my eyes off all the gorgeous and noticably *living* plants.. goals.

I wish I could tell you exactly what to order but the genuine answer is, try all of it! Each dish was more delicious than the one before it and most dishes didn’t take any big changes to be vegan friendly. They were also more than happy to help find items on the menu I could enjoy freely without having to worry about allergies et al. Their team works with local farmers and ranchers to provide guests with a seasonal, taste of Texas. Some stand out items for me included:

  • Grilled and Marinated Beets with Black Garlic and Dill
  • Roasted Lettuces, Avocado, Pumpkin Seed
  • Garden Hand Roll, Cucumber Dip
  • Purple Carrots
  • Chickpea and Green Corn Salad
  • and of course.. the Bread 🙂

Because I like to eat with the early birds, minimize my needs for a bottle of Tums later, and was feeling particularly punctual that evening, we arrived for dinner at 5p and happened to be the first table they sat at the restaurant, ever. But you wouldn’t have known it! Our experience was seamless from start to finish and with the wealth of kindness and hospitality it felt like the team at Lutie’s had been hosting guests for months.

If you’re interested in enjoying Lutie’s amazing ambiance and great food, head to OpenTable to make a reservation. Luties is located within the Commodore Perry Estate in Austin at 4100 Red River St in Austin, Texas just Northwest of the UT Campus. Cheers!
